Block Time Like a CFO; Where time is your operating budget

If you’re running a business—or a life—with no budget then you’re just “busy” and busy is not productive.

Guess what? You are the CFO. Time is your capital. Attention is your cash. And you’re out here handing it out like party favors.

Let’s rethink this.

CFOs don’t just spend money, they allocate it. Strategically. Deliberately. Every dollar is a decision. Just like hours are in your day. If it doesn’t spark joy, stimulate progress, serve a goal, or solve a problem, it’s not worth your time.

Create categories and batch tasks like line-items, then make cuts where necessary. If it doesn’t have a category, it probably doesn’t need to happen.

Forecast monthly. Adjust weekly. CFOs don’t just make one budget and pray; it’s ongoing. So is your calendar. Set your ideal calendar like a budget. Then review it weekly. Where did you overspend your time? Did you underspend your time in any critical areas?

Reserve energy like a smart CFO reserves cash. No reserves = reactive mode. Reactive mode = bad decisions. Only here, those bad decisions don’t just affect your financial position, they also lead to overwhelm and burnout.

Say NO like you mean it. You’re not rude, you’re just a responsible CFO.

Block time like it matters. It literally does. Your calendar is a statement of strategy.

Tick Tock… it’s About Time!
